Let me start by saying a huge thank you to Micah’s mommy, Lisa. About 3 years ago, Lisa asked a friend of mine, if she knew any local photographers. She was fairly new to the area, moving here for her husband’s job as a pastor of a local church. My friend, April, told her that she did have a friend that had recently started out. So she gave me Lisa’s contact information and I photographed Lisa for my first maternity session. After her and her husband received their pictures, she asked if I would photograph their baby boy when he arrived. I was thrilled and a little terrified. I had never photographed a newborn, other than my own, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I started studying immediately. I wish I could say that I was thoroughly prepared, but part of this job entails gaining knowledge, not only through books, seminars, classes, videos, but also by hands on experience, and at that time, I had zero. We did manage to get a lot of pictures. I am amazed that they are as good as they were, considering what props and materials I had to work with. I now have quite the collection. The story has come full circle with Lisa being my little Corinne’s teacher at preschool, and Corinne being smitten with none other than my first newborn client, Josiah. Its very cute. So a big shout out to Lisa and Jonathan for getting me started on this wild ride that I absolutely love, my favorite specialty of photography, newborns. Micah James arrived at 6lbs 14oz and 19.25 inches. He is absolutely adorable. He came to me at 14 days new and was quite the sleeper. I hope you enjoy this peak into his baseball themed session.
